A Maasai Community Conservation Project
At the heart of our offering is the Mara Haven Safari Camp, a truly magical retreat hidden in a lush forest within the core of the Masai Mara National Reserve. This 30-acre concession was gifted to veteran safari guide Donald Young more than three decades ago by his Maasai friends—an honor that speaks to the trust and bond he has built with the community. Since then, Don has preserved the land in pristine condition, ensuring guests enjoy an authentic wilderness experience far from the crowded tourist hubs.

Your stay is overseen by Camp Manager Fred Musongo, who has served as the Mara headman for Donald Young Safaris, Ltd. for over 20 years. Safaris are led by Head Safari Guide Edward Naurori, widely regarded as one of Kenya’s finest new-generation guides, known for his vast knowledge, inspiring presence, and academic background from Jomo Kenyatta University, where he earned advanced degrees in Management and Computer Science.
Beginning December 2025, we will introduce special discounted rates for Kenya Residents and select Non-Resident guests, with all proceeds donated directly to local Maasai families in support of community conservation. This initiative reflects our long-standing commitment to ensuring that the people who have protected these lands for generations continue to benefit from them. Each year, 130 calendar dates—spanning High, Mid, and Low Season—will be donated by Donald Young Safaris, Ltd. This allocation allows Maasai families and community groups to access and benefit from the spectacular “Don Young Camp” concession. These donated days play a vital role in supporting local livelihoods, conservation projects, educational needs, and cultural sustainability within the surrounding Maasai community.
